Air Conditioning
Weston Automotive are your top Fort Collins A/C Service Professionals. Your vehicle’s climate control system both cools and heats the cabin. Cooling is done by the air conditioning system. An A/C compressor is attached to the engine and driven by a belt. A refrigerant is pumped by the compressor to an evaporator located behind the dash. A fan moves air over the evaporator making cooled air that flows through a filter and into your cabin. A dirty cabin filter can restrict air flow. By following the manufacturers’ filter replacement intervals our technicians will keep the air flowing as it should.
Some A/C problems involve the compressor, but other components can also fail. If you hear noises when you turn on the A/C it could mean there is a problem with the compressor. Other signs that the A/C system is not working properly are an abnormal odor, blowing stale air instead of cool or low air flow. A frequent issue is that the A/C system is low on refrigerant. This should be remedied as soon as possible to avoid damage to the compressor. Using leak detection equipment, our ASE-Certified technicians will find and repair leaks before they cause the compressor to wear prematurely. It’s better to repair leaks than to pay the cost of replacing the compressor.
Cabin Heating
Your cabin is heated using excess engine heat that is carried by the coolant system to a heater core located behind the dash. A heater fan moves the heat from the heater core into your cabin. A common problem when heaters do not work properly is that the coolant thermostat located in the engine is malfunctioning. This prevents the coolant from getting hot enough to warm the heater core. Other common problems are leaking heater cores, malfunctioning heater fans and electronic control issues.
